Day 12, April 14
Coward Gap to Muskrat Creek Shelter
Last night (April 13th) was the first night with no wind. I've been noticing that Rocky enjoys his sleep and is not real quick to rise in the morning.
Today there were a lot of steep ups and downs. Fortunately, there were only a few real rocky areas to navigate. It was hot. Between Rocky and me, we drank over 1 1/2 gallons of water while hiking and more when we arrived at camp.
We made a major milestone today. We crossed into NORTH CAROLINA and happily said good-bye to Georgia.
We got to the Muskrat Creek Shelter as the sun was going down. I pitched the tent in the dark while Rocky supervised. I fixed dinner in the dark with the aid of my headlamp. Rocky was fast asleep when dinner was ready and wasn't interested in eating. That's a tired puppy. Time for me to turn off the headlamp.
Day 13 Teaser
Titanium (Dan) sent a message via his Garmin on the evening of Day 13, April 15, that his phone was dead but everything was okay. His Garmin shows him at Beech Gap. His next resupply box is waiting for him at the post office in Franklin, North Carolina, so we should receive a full report when he and Rocky reach Franklin and can recharge.
Looking good. Like the screen shot from the Far Out app. Helps me keep track of your progress.
